LaunchWorks is built around three connected flywheels that reinforce one another and create lasting momentum for innovation and workforce development.
LaunchWorks helps participants discover what they enjoy, what they do well, and how their interests can connect to future career opportunities. Through the NASA Space Apps Challenge Charlotte, part of the NASA-driven global hackathon, and the LaunchWorks Idea to Impact Challenge, focused on climate adaptation and aging well, participants explore emerging technologies, solve real-world problems, and build confidence through hands-on workshops, seminars, and innovation experiences.
LaunchWorks helps promising ideas move toward real-world implementation by providing mentorship, collaboration opportunities, and innovation support. Participants refine concepts, build prototypes, validate solutions, and prepare ideas for launch through incubator programs, startup and pitch development, mentorship networks, prototype support, and community innovation projects.
LaunchWorks creates opportunities by connecting emerging talent with nonprofits, startups, and small businesses through real-world project experiences. Participants gain practical experience, portfolio work, references, and career exploration, while partner organizations receive innovative solutions, technical support, and fresh perspectives in areas such as AI, automation, digital services, and process improvement. This service-based model also helps generate earned revenue to sustain LaunchWorks programs for the long term.

Many people discover interests through a challenge or workshop, but never have the opportunity to develop those ideas further.
LaunchWorks helps bridge that gap by connecting learning, innovation, and real-world application. The result is a continuous cycle that develops future innovators while creating meaningful impact for communities and organizations.
